Storage at the Canadian Lakehead was 47,970.000 bushels in elevators accessible to the Canadian National Railways, while, in the previous year, the figure was 49,257.000 bushels. Arrivals at the Lakehead totalled 80,889 cars as against 80, 052 cars in 1930 and the unload- tngs amounted to 83,472 cars and 81.305 cars respectively. The movement of grain to the Pacific Coast was particularly good In 1931. A total of 22,369 cars were delivered In Vancouver, New West minster and Victoria in comparison to the 18,015 cars delivered during the previous twelve months. At Prince Rupert arrivals were 938 cars in 1931 and 118 cars in 1930. Although there was no elevator construction at Lakehead or tidewater terminals during the year. 27 additional elevators were built at country points on new branch lines of the Canadian National Railways. Their construction increased the storage capacity of country elevators by 874,000 bushels and raised the total storage capacity of country elevators to 83,335,000 bushels.
