June 23: Graham Island Timber Co. has lost an apnea! against an assessment of provincial government offleiala upon its property for taxation purposes. Some years ago the Washington Pulp & Paper Co. bought 20.000 acres of spruce forest from the Western Coal & Iron Corporation hrough the late M. C. Lawlor for M40.000. The pulp company then ioimed the Graham Island Timber to which It sold the timber for WS.OOO cash and the remainder of M75.O00 in shires in the new c6m- tany. In im Powell Rivet Co. bought the timber for 1550.000.
