Paul Mathers, the first Indian of the Tsimpsean tribe to be or dained a priest of the Anglican ChureKrMr. Mathers will preach at the Anglican Cathedral here tomorrow. The group arriving tomorrow are repesentatlves of the Indians who were led to Alaska years ago by Father Duncan, a lay missionary of the Anglican Church, who broke with the Anglicans In British Columbia. They plan to visit old Met-lakatla Indian village Monday and will meet the natives there and proceed later In the week to Kitkatla, another Anglican native village south of Porcher Island. They expect to be able to heal the breach caused by the separation years ago and thus reunite the whole Tslmp-sean tribe. Rev. Paul Mathers was ordained by Bishop Rowe of Alaska. Communist agitators are believed to be at the bottom of the .trouble and sabotage is feared. The strikers are armed and there Is a possibility that disorders may arise. The Department of Labor has taken steps to make an immediate investigation of the dispute and, pending the findings, an appeal has been made to the strikers to hold anysctlon they might contemplate in abeyance. Alberta Relief Is Financed to End of February Federal Appropriations Passed So That Men May Continue at Work st Camps EDMONTON. Jan. 16: Welcome news for 450 Edmonton men employed In Jasper-Banff and Elk Park relief camps was received by A. U. O. Bury, MP, when it was learned that federal appropriations have been passed to continue work until the end of February. Under previous reports, funds had been provided tor the month of January only. The announcement makes it dear that the camps will remain open until the end of February in any event. As the house of Commons will be In session, and can deal with conditions at that time, It is felt that work wtll be continued until spring as first In tended, providing that weather con ditions are suitable. There are over 325 Edmonton ex- service men employed on the Jas per-Banff scenic highway, while another 123 are in camps at Elk Island park. Continue Road Extension Another bit of cheering news for Edmonton Is that sufficient funds are available to continue work on an extension of the Jasper Highway westward from Jasper to the British Columbia boundary till March 15. It is hoped that this work will be continued during the spring and summer as part of the regular operations of the federal parks branch.
