In truth, Kcllogg's COKX FLAKES THE DAILY NEWS Prince Rupert Phone Terrace Liberals Urjje Same Number of Ridinjrs nut Keduced :; I- Indemnities . '! TERRACE, Feb. 1: A meeting of the Terrace Liberal Association was held last Thursday there being a larje gathering. Dr. II. C. Wrinch, M.L.A. for Skeena, was present and addressed the meeting, R. W. Riley, president, presiding. Much discussion took place regarding the proposed redistribution of scats which is to take place at the next session of the Legislature, and two resolutions were unanimously adopted by the meeting. Arrangements were made for the annual 'meeting which Is to take place shortly. The resolutions on redistribution were as follows: Resolved that, in the matter of redistribution of the seats of the provincial Legislature, this associa tion urges that, at this time, when there Is dire need, distress and po verty stalking the province in- gen eral, requiring representation of the people as it has not been re quired before, no change In the representation of the province be made at this session of the Legislature. In Second Resolution Whereas there is a general de mand throughout the province for rljid economy and retrenchment, And also a demand for reduced re presentation In the provincial Leg islature, by a redistribution of seats, therefore this association urges that: (at. The Legislature reduce the sessional indemnity of its members from $2000 to $1500 to meet the changed conditions now prevailing which arc similar to the conditions prevailing when the members' indemnities were first set at $1500. lb). That the cabinet be reduced from nine salaried members to six which prevailed prior to the present administration taking office. C- That the Liquor Control Board be reduced to a one-man board at a salary of $10,000 per year Instead of the present board at $30,-000. We would point out that in this way a saving would be made to the taxpayers of the province annually as follows: Saving on ses. indemnities $24,000 Saving on Cabinet officers 21.000 Saving of Liquor C. B. 20.000 Total $85,000 We would further point out that this caving alone would provide for the sessional indemnity of 32 members at the old rate of pay or nearly the entire Legislature at the pro- not& rate of pay. This association urges that the above economies be made effective it Jhe forthcoming session In lieu of a reducUon of members and therfby leave the province Its present representation which is only in keeping with the other provinces of the Dominion and made atone democratic lines. , Father Charles Wolfe.
