March 11, 1932 Thore seems to have been some difference of opinion in the city as to the advisability of continuing the annual fall fair this year in view of financial Conditions. It wfcs thought by some that a flower show might have replaced the ordinary fair. However, it has been decided to go ahead and doubtless the community will get behind the new board with the object of making the event a success. Possibly some features of the fair may be eliminated altogether this year in order to cut down expenses. We suggest that if cuts are made, it should not be in the flowers and vegetables. The flowers were the great feature last year and there should be even greater interest taken this year. The question of vaudeville entertainment is one that has been discussed considerably. There is nothing educative in any way in connection with the stunts which cost the exhibition board a good deal. They are in direct competition with the local theatre but are paid for at the public expense. Their total elimination or replacement by local talent is worth considering. Given good weather and united local support there seems no good reason why the fair this year should not prove successful financially and otherwise, but there will have to be a general trimming of costs. WORLD CONSCIOUSNESS In addressing the Gyro Club, Bishop Sovereign of the Yukon drew attention to the manner m which the whole world had become one neighborhood. Every man is our neighbor. It is a new world consciousness that is gradually developing, due to modern transportation and communication. The telegraph, airplane and radio are the most modern means of communication and transportation and they have been largely instrumental in bringing about this knowledge of our neighbors that draws us together and will undoubtedly in time make for a United States of the World. When this world federation comes into being, wars should be wholly eliminated, but for the present it seems impossible to do much more than help cultivate this world consciousness and the desire for peace. iK 4 SftflMgHgflk r " k Co-eds in kneed of assistant hi, ... .uU a m ft rrn hod of "Cribbing."
