If the Irish wish to sever connection there seems to be no good reason why they should not do so, much as their leaving the ' Empire would be regretted in Canada. i Great interest has been taken in the latest election re-' turns as given to the people here exclusively through the ; Canadian rress despatches published solely in this paper. PRIVILEGE TO AMERICANS. The usual order in council was passed yesterday at Ottawa granting American halibut fishing vessels the privilege of using British Columbia ports for the landing and shipment of their catches. This is a special privilege granted at the request of the people here and has to be renewed each year. It enables American fishermen to ship their catches in bond through Prince Rupert and' thus get advantage of the quickest routing. While the order gives the right only until May 1, it is presumed the minister will extend the time until the end of the year but he has the right to cut it off at any time. NEW ZEALAND BUTTER One of the big agitations against the former federal government was that it allowed shipments of New Zealand butter to come into Canada to the disadvantage of the Canadian farmer. Now another government is in power and yet a quarter of a million pounds of New Zealand butter has arrived and will be distributed. It pays duty but there seems to be a good supply of Canadian butter and the price is surely low enough this year for That Schoolgirl Complexion Again "Dc kind to .our conipl' xiu.i Sun thu.i: M:iry Carlisle goes the whole hog, or somethUig und d u. mi 1. milk if bovine kindness Paiis Around Her Heart Tired Out After Doing Hoosew&rk Mrs. Ilcnry Ruuh, Muriel Lake, Alts., writm "Lut fill 1 hsd biu) pln md aiy hurt, nd each moraine after doing s little hi'utcwork, I teeaied to get ditty soil I'm! N. It, Seem to Have Lost Their Punch Hough Play Two of the city league's first h.;lf winners ran amiss last evening at the Auditorium while only a handful of the league's staunchest followers looked on. First of all Tuxls added a win the Merchants continued to hum: In there with glass chins. The Mer chants have not been able to find combination that will win e;imr. for them this half. As if that wasn't enough for one night the Orotto turned baek the C. N. R. A. in a lw scoring game featured by rough play. Senior Game The C. N. boys seem to have lost their punch. The stump they are in now Is the worst they have been in this year. Their line-up is weakened. However, they expect to be back in full force in the next name or two. Last night the Grotto beat i.ir.n. Both teams were dead during 'he first half. They couldn't get near the basket. The Grotto had to ex tend themselves to be leading by five points at the Intermission. After the switch things livened up a little when the G. N. went one point ahead. About thte time both teams started to get rough and Referee Brick Skinner sent Mensles and Stalker for the Grotto and Morrison for C. N. R. A., to the coolers In quick succession. Several other players on both sides had their quota of fouls before the battle ended 19-14 for the tokoosonist. i 0 ratio Merurtee, D, Stalker (SI. R. Morrison 4i. Currte 141. Ratch-ford 3. E.
