The Canadian Fish & Cold Storage Co. has the two flagships of Its packing fleet, Chief Tapoet, Capt. Horace Tat-tersal, and Chief Seegay, Capt. Fred Walters, hauling fish into Prince Rupert. Shag Rock, some 25 miles east of North Island near the entrance of Naden Harbor, is at present the centre of fishing operations with quite a number of boats also operating at Frederick Island on the West Coast. At both points fishing is reported to be quite good al though abundance of Jellyfish Jsi proving a nuisance and somewhat hampering operations. An interesting fishing experiment was recently tried at Scatter Point (Ramsay Island) on the east coast of Moresby Island off Cum-shewa Inlet where it was thought there might be profitable fishing. Led by Oustav Normann, President of the Northern British Columbia Fishermen's Association, a half a dozen boats moved there to try it out but found the run to be prac-tically negligible. Monday morning saw the arrival of the well known Taconlte of Vancouver, with her owner. W. E. Boeing, prominent Seattle air and marine craft builder, and party on board, the vessel pulling out the same evening on her return south In the course of a leisurely coastal cruise, the northern terminus of which was made heres, The Taconlte was travelling fruielaborate style with an aerial Late Tuesday afternoon, the palatial yacht Joylta of Los Angeles, owned by Jewell Carmen of Hollywood and with party headed by Roland West, well known movie director, on board, hove into port and stayed the night, pulling out for Ketchikan about 8 o'clock the next morning. The Joylta is a luxurious craft of 42 tons and, during her stay here, was the eynosure of all local yachtsmen's eyes. She moored at the floats of the F. E. Hunt Co. Mr. West Intimated that he would probably call here again Known iroiier Billy Boy. "O. P." was Joined here by his son. Otto Jr. 1 Billy who. after attending school I in Vancouver, will be with his dad for the summer. CaDt. Ernest Oeorgeson. arrived in port lot 8 o'clock last evening from the , south and sailed at 12 midnight on her return to Vancouver. The C. P. R. steamer Princess Adelaide, I Capt. S. K. Gray, arrived at 2:30 pjn. from Vancouver and sailed at 10 p.m. on her return south. A I third arrival of the day from the south was the steamer Prince Rupert. Capt. Neil MeLean, which came in at 11 o'clock in the morning from Vancouver, Powell River and Ocean Falls and palled at 3 pjn. for Anyox and Stewart whence she will return here southbound this, evening. Halibut Landings According to figures complied along the Prince Rupert waterfront halibut landings at the port for the 1933 season up to the end of June this year totalled 8,008300 pounds as compared with 0314,700 pounds up to the end' of the same month last year. Of these figures, Canadian boats had contributed this year a total of 4,171,200 pounds as against 2,162,500 pounds last year while the landings of the American fleet for the 'present season were placed at 3,915,300 pounds in comparison with 4,182,200 pounds last year. Landings for June this year were placed at a total of 1,767.600 pounds, Including 91,4,500 pounds from Canadian vessels and 853,300 pounds from American, as compared with 1.682,200 pounds last year In June made up of 341,500 pounds Canadian and 1.340.700 pounds American fish.
