QUESTION OF STABLE GOVERNMENT The election which is to be held November 2 is not to decide t which party or group or non-party aggregation shall administer the affairs of the province. It is a eontest between the forces that make for stability ami those that make for disintegration. Suppose for an instant that the people should be foolish enough to elect a majority of C. C. F. candidates! What would happen ? It would mean that at once a Fascist party would be organised composed of all those opHsed to the drastic changes which the C. C. F. advocate. It would mean the beginning of political turmoil and possibly of a condition of unrest such as has never been seen. If the independents should be in the majority, no one could say what would happen. They are a loose aggregation with no common ties except the outstanding desire not to be identified with the Tolmie government to which they formerly adhered. They hate unpopularity. The Liberal party is .at present the party of security. It is the only party that guarantees work for wages and a return of prosperity. It is the party that is resolved to see that the worker has a fair deal and that industry shall be encouraged. It is just now the party of common sense. Many people of all parties declare that on this occasion they will vote Liberal because they see in Liberalism the only way out of the present impasse. T. D. Pattullo declares day after day that the evils of unemployment and business depression must be attacked determinedly. Such a policy is the basis for the present campaign and we are inclined to believe it will be acceptable to the people of the province. And A Drawing Gear...
