PLANNING NURSERY The hospital board, at Its meeting last night, gave consideration to the possibility of opening out a new nursery In connection with the Prince Rupert General Hospital, suggestions ranging from the establishment of a new ward for the new-born babies to a complete new maternity and babies' wing or separate building. While financial stringency, it was felt, would bar anything of a very ambitious nature being undertaken at this time, it was decided, after considerable discussion, to refer the question to the house committee for consideration and report. Dr. L. W. Kergln dffered the suggestion that a storey might be added to the classroom section of the building and used to accommodate the nursery which would thus be separated completely from the children's ward which, In turn. ; could be divided Into two sections for girls and boys who were now in the same room. To build and equip properly a complete new maternity and Infanta' unit the cost might run to $20,000, H was estimated, this, of course, being out of the question at jthls time.
