It is quite evident that the party or agency responsible for such misrepresentation of actual facts had a more morbid motive than is setn on the deceivlns surfacethat of trying to grossly misrepresent the sentiments and purposes of the meetings In the Moose Hall on the said night, and to turn Uie sympathy of the Prince Rupert citicens against the Anyox strikers i by vainly endeavoring to show that jthey were communistic in their sentiments or ideas. We think It indeed a tyrannical injustice, and a gross intimidation of the pur-! poses of the meeting. The name "Ivanovlch" makes it appear Russian and suggests communism, and purports to be In sym pathy with the average worker. But to the average Intelligent reader It is quite evident that the purpose of the letter was to influence the citi zens of Prince Rupert that the city was rife with communism. The strikers of Anyov are well aware of the fact that this letter was Inser ted by some party or agency not to promote their cause in their present labor dispute, but the direct re verse. The singing of "The Red Flag" heard by the party stamps the letter as spurious, as there was no such occurrence. This letter is written to- let Mr. I Ivanovlch know that we fully un dcrxtand his tactics, and to present to toe cttisens of Prince Rupert ou' attitude and purpose. K. MONTGOMERY. Acting Secretary,; Anyox Strike Committee; .' LEGION PROTESTS Editor Daily News: It was with amazement that wc read the letter in the Issue of Dally News of February 17 over the signature, of Ivanovlch. We believe in : the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press, but when any in-j dividual preaches such rank sertl-! tion we must protest most emnha-: tically. and particularly when a ' presumably reputable paper lends its columns to such publicity.
