PAGE FOUR GREENVILLE YULETIDE Concert and Feasts at Naas Kiver DON'T CRY Village GREENVILLE, Jan. 23: The Christmas festivities here began on Thursday afternoon, December 22, when the teachers gave a tea party and a Christmas Tree to all the children of the Day School. Every swholar was present and, after a bounteous tea, each child received a gift from the tree. Several members bi the council were present as well as tho school trustee, truant officer, health officer and several ladles who helped with the tea. In the evening of the same day the school enterjlnment was given ing was the program: in the Community Hall. After the performance the following prizes, given by the teachers, were presented by the Chief of the Village, Johnson Huns: Top boy in school. Jeffrey Martin. Most improvement in Grade III, Elsie Nelson. Most improvement in Grade II, Willie McKay. Most improvement in Grade IIB Salome Robinson. Highest marks in examination, Eunice Talt. Special prize for arithmetic, Ben jamin Tait (100). Best work In Grade I, Helen Nel son. Good conduct prize, Annie Ward. General improvement Orade IB, Martha Alexander. Cleanest and tidiest boy, Douglas Venn. Cleanest and tidiest girl, Cora McNeil. On Saturday, December 24, the Community Christmas Tree was held. Father Christmas arrived in due ceremony on a sleigh and many presents were distributed by him. On Christmas Day the usual church services were held with special music by the choir. Solo, "And now when Jesus was oorn." Anthem, "Love Divine." The Athletic Club was responsible tor the entertainment on Friday December 30. They gave a sumptuous feast which earned them a prise in the local competitions and afterwards various games were played. On Saturday the St. Andrew's Guild gave a basket party and concert. The singing was remarkably good and, "as a result, the challenge cup for the best concert was awarded to them. The usual Watch Night Service was held at 11 pjn. New Year's Day New Year's Day was kept on Monday when a masquerade ball took place in the evening. The cos tumes were varied and some very ingenious effects were produced. The prizes were awarded as follows: Best costumes. Mildred Russ and Annie Ward (Old Indian dancing dresses). Best humorous costumes. Mr. and Mrs. H. Robinson. (Mutt and Jeff). Most original. Alfred Robinson and Willie McKay (Zulu and wife). Oames were played and fun con tinued till 3 ajn. and so ended an other Christmas celebration with everyone very happy and looking forward to Santa Claus' visit next December.
