March 24 The Victoria Colonist, organ of the Conservative party here, sees In the union moTtRktnu an effort to wipe out Conservatism in British Columbia, t says in .part: "The political situation in British Columbia grows more complicated and raystlfymg as the time approaches for a provincial election One of the portents of particular tempted for almost a year past to dictate u Premier Tolmie what ours he should oursue. There Is no doubt whatever5! about the gen uineness of Dr. Tolmles plea for union government. In the face of refusal, steadily maintained by the Liberal opposition, he has pursued Ma pie. "One fact standing out clearly is that, under the present alignment of parties, any prospect of union government Is unavailing. With three main parties In the field the possibility exists that none of them could secure a majority of the elected resjresentattves in a provincial election. An outcome of this character would be a coalition and not a union government." Today's Weather Prince Rupert dear, light north wind, barometer 30.30, temperature 43. smooth tea. Capitol Tonlf lit Has Scene in U. S. Clumber One of the most Important scenes In "The Billion Dollar Scandal," showing tonight at the Capitol Theatre, takes place In a senatorial Investigation chamber In Washington. D.C.. and the detail connected with the filming of such action was carefully worked out to assure the utmost accuracy by Din-dor Harry Joe Brown. This Is not a common courtroom sci'ne. for the proceedings are conducted Informally despite the fact that the committee, composed of 12 of the country's lawmakers, has powers higher than those of a regularly constituted court of law. These men take the place of both judge and Jury and dominate the centre of the scene as they arev seated around a huge table. To the left are chairs for the witnesses, spectators and legal talent and to the right are tables for the press. In lieu of a witness stand there is one chair, where each witness sits during the time he Is being questioned by tne investigation, in lieu or a prosecuting attorney.
