Islands High Freight and Passenjer Rates Taken lip By inUitule Tliruib Mrs. De Bucy A protest receded by the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce at knownft meeting last night at the high freight rates charged between the Queen Charlotte Islands and Prince Rupert was referred to the freight rates committee of the chamber. Th letter of protest came from Mrs. De Bucy. secretary of the Tax mers' Institute for the Islands, In which she recited a iist of charges on such articles as beef, live cattle hay and lumber. A complaint Is also made at the high passenger rates. A rate of fare and a third re turn Is asked. The letter concludes with a com nllment to the officers erf the steamer Prince John extolling their I unfailing courtesy and helpfulness to the residents of the islands.
