It is a patriotic move on the part of the organization for the purpose of inter esting the children m what the flag stands for and ouild ing up a spirit of loyalty to Canada and the British Em pire. The idea is very commendable and worthy of all sup port. The Elks are to be congratulated on their enthusiasm in the cause of educating and entertaining the children and helping in the unification of the nation. At a time like this the flag day event is more than ever desirable. INTEREST IN LOCAL MINES The group of mines owned by the Hydah Gold Mining Company at Kootenay Harbor is named the Prince Rupert group. In addition to that it is not very far from Prince Rupert and local people take a particular interest in its de velopment, just as they would in the development of any mine on the Queen Charlotte Islands or at any other point within two or three hundred miles of the city. Yesterday we published the news that the vein of gold bearintr ore at Kootenav Harbor W'hich nreviouslv had been explored at the surface had been struck at depth. NaT turally the people on the Islands were very pleased to be able to send out the news and we were pleased to get it While this does not assure that the Haidah is a great mine,' it is a very important step fn its development and will give great encouragement to the men who are putting their money into it. Doubtless the development will be continued with renewed vigor and it is possible that before very long the mine will be listed among the producers of Northern B.C. and be the first producer on the Queen Charlotte Islands. We all hope it will. Admission, 25c DAY DRAW ordered acknowledged with thanks. TOURNAMENT 6-1. 6-2. 6-5, 6-4.
