distance aviation flight ever at-
tempted in Canada took place
today between Hamilton and To-
ronto when J. A. D. McCurdy
and Charles Willard flew forty
miles in fifteen minutes. Willard
followed the line of the railway

ed by thousands of people.

Detroit, Aug. 3.—After con-
cealing the murder of his wife
for six long years, W. E. Lons-
berry, a Canadian from the village
of Mabee near Tillsonburg, is in
a cell here, betrayed by his own
mother. Since his arrest the dead
body of his wife has been unearthed
from beneath the floor of his barn
and Lonsberry has made a clean
breast of the whole affair.

Story of the Crime

Mrs. Lonsberry, the wife, dis-
eppeared six years ago on Jan-
uary 5th, 1905, and her husband
gave it out that they had quarreled
and she had left home. Nothing
more was thought about the mat-
ter until about two months ago,
when Lonsberry’s mother, who is
eighty-three years old, and who
living with her son, went
to her minister and told him that}
she had seen her son kill his wife |
six years ago. On the clergyman’s
advice she went recently to Sheriff
Donovan and repeated the story
to him.

Dug the Body Up

Mrs. Lonsberry, senior, insisted
that her son had buried the body
somewhere about the place. Offi-
cers dug up the cellar under the

came upon the body of a dead
women.

There were two gold rings on
one of the fingers, which Mrs.
Robert Fulton, a neigbhor, pos-
itively identified as having belonged
to Mrs. Lonsberry.

Husband Confesses

When confronted with the facts
the husband announced that he
was ready to confess,

He said his wife and his mother
did not get along well together.
The wife had locked the old lady
upstairs, and this led to a quarrel.
He struck his wife several blows,
she fell. She lay without
moving, and though he and his
mother tried to revive her their
efforts were in vain.

This happened shortly before
roon on January 5, 1905. He
covered up the body and left it
on the floor until midnight, when
he carried it out to the sheep
shed and buried it under the floor.

Glad to Confess

At the conclusion of his con-
fession Lonsberry said that he
felt relieved now that it was all off
his mind.
