W. A. Scott and Campbell-Black; win uign nonors. vvicn a gooci margin but second in the race A. T- it, m cyme iwo umcn aviators wno made an excellent record, two Americans with a Seattle-built Boeing plane third and two Englishmen fourth. The Mollisons whb were the favorites at the start and at the close of the first day were unfortunate with their machine. It is satisfactory to think that the British still lead' in aviation in spite of the many disparaging remarks often heard of them. They were well represented in the race and two lost their lives when their machine caught fire in the air. Canada was not represented but Canadians took a live interest in the proceedings. NATIONALITY OF WINNERS Judging from the names it seems likelv that the winning aviators were Scotsmen. One Englishman remarked in this connection that the flyers were Englishmen who originated north of the Tweed and a Scotsman ventured the opinion that being Londoners meant that they were from the southern part of Scotland. At any rate they are from the island from which so many Canadians and Americans originated and their winning was a great British victory for men and machine.
