Jocal. dry dock i Fall Off Pinks on West Coast-Fall Phase of Salmon Canning, j After one of the best runs in years which has proven profitable to several hundred troll fishermen,-spring salmon fishing is beginning to slacken off around North Island and other trolling grounds at the north end of the Queen Charlotte Islands. The run of cohoes Is continuing, however, and it Is expected will soon show an improvement. With the falling off of the spring run, some of the boats are commencing to drift away from the North Island trolling grounds. j The run of pink salmon In Mas-sett Inlet, which has been awaited since the first of the month, has not commenced but hopes are still held that It will soon materialize. Meantime the Massett Canners cannery at Old Massett and the Nootka Packing Co. cannery at New Massett are getting supplies of pinks from the west coast of Graham Island where It Is reported that a run of some proportions had developed. i Skeena River canneries are now beginning to enter the fall fishing phase of the season's operations. The sockeye run has fallen off and the season for this variety will close 1 this week-end.
