Ltd. of this city today shipped fresh meat to Ketchikan from the local abattoir, that town having run short owing to failure of regular supplies to arrive from Seattle on account of the longshoremen's strike. This is the first shipment that hasjiccn made from here but, if the shipping tie-up continues, it is likely that more meat will have to be sent from Prince Rupert not only to Ketchikan but also to Juneau and other Alaska points. Edgar N. Rhodes, minister of finance, following several weeks of debate. The main vote on the budget came after a new Liberal amendment had been ruled out of order by Speaker Black and a Progressive amendment had been voted down by 157 to 14. A previous Liberal amendment had also been ruled out of order as had been a previous Progressive amendment. The reduction under the budget of the tax on sugar from two to one percent will become effective at midnight next Sunday instead of on July 1 as ortg'nally announced. Premier R. B.
