Many people are opposed ,to the idea of executing a woman and others are opposed to capital punishment in any case. What is sure is that most people would Jike to abolish execution of women if it is considered in the best interests of the state to do so. It is argued by some that women are just as cruel as men, if not worse, that they are just as vindictive and that, if the law against capital punishment were abolished, there would be more crimes similar to that for which Mrs. Major was convicted. It is, quite possible that, in the English speaking countries, very few more women will be executed. CARELESS OF LIFE ,.A1S ften charged that people are careless of human ife in this country but it is as nothing to what takes place in other countries. Take Russia today, where we hear that 107 people were executed following the killing of Sergei Kiroff. In Germany there have been killings without any verypronounced opposition from the mass of the people. ThVOrientals, especially the Chinese, are notoriously careless of life. So in almost every country. So careful have we become that we ?ave unfits when it might be the best thing Wriland.ifqV their friends had they never lived.
