Are we or are we not loval to our ctv. kppn tn nnrmni home industries and merchants, willing to throw aside our j7viii.ii.ai ujyuiiujis iui uic guuu ui me my i we nave nearo the subject often discussed. We have heard local people deplore the fact that so much business goes to the mail order houses. We have heard wail after Wail in regard to the disloyalty of the people to the city. Now comes a visitor who says he never knew a city in which the people were so loyal as in Prince Rupert, He finds that very many people consider what effect their actions will have on the city rather than on themselves. He looks upon this as a place where Prince Rupert is their god, the most loyal community he has visited, So there you are. It seems to be largely a matter of opinion or perhaps a matter of comparison. We may be disloyal but our disloyalty is so much less than other places that it really is loyalty, THE BIRD THAT FOULS ITS OWN NEST There was a time when Prince Rupert people going away from the city could speak nothing but ill of it. There were men and women who came here, earned good salaries here, were treated like kings and queens and then went away and said what a terrible place it was. This was years ago. Today we find a much greater loyalty among residents. We find people more ready to defend the place in which they live than formerly. The bird that fouls its own nest cannot expect to lead a happy life and neither can the person who is willing to live in a city and make a home there, even if only temporarily expect to live happily if always speaking ill of his home town While Prince Rupert has its disadvantages it also has its advantages and the latter greatly overbalance the former. The program for the day could not have been better arranged or more ablv carried out The hospitality and re ception accorded by the people of Port Simpsort to their visitors from Prince- Rupert could not have been more kindly or cenerous. The event was a great credit to the people of tne neighboring village and I am sure was as enjoyable to all the Prince Rupert folk who made the trip as it was to myself. Thanking you.
