The game started off fast with Any ox girls breaking through and ' sinking three baskets In quick suc-t cession while the Rupert girls) made but. one point on a free throw. In the second quarter the visiting i girls checked hard and held the An-!yox team down to but three more j points while Lowe, for Rupert, broke loose and made five points i which ended the score at half time In Anyox's favor, 9 to 6. In the second half both teams checked hard and played a good fast game of ball and, although the Rupert girls had many shots at the basket, they could not make them count, not being used to the high celling and springy back-board of the Anyox hall Mildred Dresser. the star long shot for the smelter town girls, made two beautiful bas kets from the centre of the floor In the second half. Banquet Tendered Following the game Saturday night, a big banquet was given In honor of the visiting team In the dining room of the Pioneer Hotel Officials of the Community League were present and speeches were made. Walter Johnson, coach for the Rupert team, and Miss Lillian Lowe, captain, spoke on behalf of he visitors, thanking the Anyox people for the keen sportsmanship and the generous hospitality that had. been shown, them during their stay. Anyox officials at the banquet were: 8, Manning, chairman; Vic McRae, secretary of the Commun ity League; Don McLeod. coach of the Anyox team; Norton Youngs referee; J. Donaldson, secretary of basketball: Clarence Dresser, and Mrs. L Wenerttrora who was In charge of the girls in the gym. It is hoped that, with the support of local basketball fans, it may be o.sible. within the next two weeks to brln the Anyox ladles' team down here for a return game and also porslbly a men's senior team.
