Pvmh, FINE PLAY MARRIAGE LEADS TO CRITICISM PRESENTED j Gifts for Everyone "Voice of Swamp" by Newly Organized Prince Kuptrt Players' Guild Outstanding One of the most ambitious and1 best executed amateur theatrical' efforts that has been essayed In Prince Rupert in a long time is the mystery play in three aets, "The Voice of the Swamp," which had its first presentation in St. Andrews Anglican Cathedral Hall last night and will be repeated tonight and Wednesday. It is the initial shawlnp of the newly organized Amateur Players Guild and was staged under the auspices of Prince Rupert group of Toe H. The- proceeds are to be used in the supplying of fuel ' to needy families. Director p. Woodslde- and the enure cast is ta be congratulated on the excellence of last night's presentation. The story ia a good one, developing Interest in a novel manner from the opening of the first scene and sustaining the my. very until the last moment before ne iinai curtain. The members of .he cast, each and every one. acault themselves with an ease and adap tability such as Is wily too often lacking In such undertakings. Indeed, the entire cast Is one of the best that has been assembled for years here. Due to the exceedingly unfavor able weather, the attendance last night was possibly not quite as large as otherwise It might have been. However, what may have been lacking In numbers was fully made up for In appreciation and tonight there should be a crowded hpuse. If the quality of the enter tainment Is ay attraction, there should be no doubt of this. "The Voice of the Swamp" is a considerably more ambitious un dertaking than the usual farce that is seen her although the mystery Is embellished with considerable comedy. There are many odd turn as the story Is unfolded with several diverting episodes In addiUon to the main theme. The scene Is lalri in the living room of a half-ruined mansion .on "A -desolate stretch :o'f the Atlantic Coast. Appropriately enough, the time Is between mid. night and dawn of an eery night with black and white cloaked figures flitting about engaged in wlerd and furtive undertakings. Members of Cast The central figure In the cast Is played to perfection by Robert Irvine whose part Is that of the custodian of. the property of a mysterious unseen, person about whose fate the talQ centres.
