PRINCE RUPERT - BRITISH COLUMBIA Published every Afternoon, Except Sunday, by Prince Rupert Daily News. Limited. Third Avenue R. P. PULLKN ... Managing-Editor OATLY EDITION FEELING ENCOURAGED The Co-operative Commonwealth. Federation will feel encouraged by the result of the election at North' Vancouver last Week. While it is not a gain in the number of C. C. F. seats in the Legislature it is an indication that the Federation is holding its own and that the people are not satisfied with the progress made by the present administration sqfar. . . The results of recent elections in Ontario and Saskatchewan indicate that the C. C. F. had little strength there and they evidently had little in the Maritimes. The recent election seems to show that the movement was something more than a flash in the pan in British Columbia. It indi cates that people are willing to take extreme measures to let our statesmen know that they are not satisfied with conditions. It does not necessarily mean that thev endorse an me policies 01 me u u. fied and have no other way SHOES iaciion. As long as there are people out of work, businessmen struggling ineffectually against adverse conditions and workmen working part time or at very reduced wages, there is bound to be dissatisfaction. As conditions imnrnvf. there will be less of a tendency to vote for extreme parties and the C. C. F. will vanish if present day statesmen take effective steps to meet the depressions which periodically oppress us. If no effective steps are taken, and the oolitical parties continue to carry on as in the past, the power of the C. C. F. or some similar group will increase until the present system is upset. Hold policies are necessary today. We are in a new age with a new outlook on lite and we must have new political policies in keeping with the spirit of the times. LOCAL NEWS Dr. C. II.
