It does not have to he held this year but the general opinion seems to be that Premier Bennett will make an appeal to the country not .1.-4. J.1 1. A 1 i ' 11 t l- laier in;m next summer, a snore session ionoweti Dy an election is the view of a close-up observer but a writer in Machean!s Magazine suggests a rather long session followed by an election. It has been suggested that the recent quick trip to the coast of Premier Bennett was for the purpose of getting the sense of the west in regard to when an election should be held. There were matters to discuss which could not be l)utto .writing. When not publicly engaged, the Premier was making contacts which would be useful to him and to the Conservative party in the next campaign. It is much too early to discuss what will happen when the election takes place. So many factors will enter into the contest that it would be foolish to make predictions. Also it would be unwise at this juncture to try to precipitate a state of political turmoil when we have only just issued from a big provincial battle. All that can be predicted is that the coming session of the House will be a rather spectacular one, with both sides trying to make political capital but with Prince Rupert's member carrying on in his own quiet way, not worrying about the future in the least but accepting the problems as they come up from day to, day and trying to serve his constituents and the country in the best way he knows.
