We can never expect to get anywhere if we are to always be an annex to Vancouver. We want the big ships to come here for cargo and the Vancouver officials to get used to the idea of their coming. This stagnation in the grain business will not always continue. At present the elevator is not used much but it will be used more. It the Pool will not do it, some other firm will want it just as soon as conditions improve sufficiently to warrant expansion. Within two years we shall probably be making regular shipments. The people of Prince Rupert will not be satisfied until a change has taken place which will make this a real grain port. The elevator must become something more than a storehouse and Prince Rupert people should strain every nerve to have the change brought about. THOU ART THE MAN 'Weoften criticize Vancouver for not paying enough at tention to the outlying portions jof the province. We say that the people there are self-centred and .that they never take any action unless ,thecan see in it profit for them-? selves. At thevf$me time Prince Rupert is often criticized by pe6pleof outside districts as being .too much interested in its own affairs and not sufficiently in helping the surr rounding country to develop. The statements made in each case are almost identical. When we criticize other centres we have to beware that someone does not point the finger of scorn and say "Thou art the man."
