Cow Bay S. E. PARKER LTD. Ford Dealers Prince Rupert March 9. 1935 Dear Sir or Madam It s always news when Hnry Ford introduces a new car. Three years ago he startled the automobile Industry by bringing out a V-8 at a low price. For 1935 he's presenting CENTER-POISE RIDING an Important advance in motor car comfort. It makes the ride a glide. The reason for the remarkable comfort of the new Ford V-8 is a fundamental change in automobile design, with new weight distribution, new seat position and new developments in spring suspension. You ride forward, toward the center of the car away from the rear axle and away from the blimps. Hence the name Center-Poise Riding. For almost the first time a car has been specially designed to give real comfort to the back teat passengers. The wider, longer, roomier New Ford V-8 is now ready for delivery. You are Invited to call at our office fdr fullVrticulars and learn the full story of its distinctive new features, including the new easy-pressure clutch and newly designed self-centering brakes. The combination of fine-car comfort and fine-car performance makes it an outstanding value. The luxurlousness of its upholstery and appointments has never been approached in a low-priced car. Very truly yours, S. E. PARKER LTD. PRINCE RUPERT'S SILVER JUBILEE Twenty five years ago the City of Prince Rupert was incorporated. At that time there was great enthusiasm. People were here to make their fortunes in a short time with the expectation of leaving as soon as they had made their clean-Up. There were few streets and sidewalks, none permanent, and the people all lived .in the future. Present hardships were ignored in anticipation of a heaven of prosperity to come. Of course things did not turn out the way it was expected. The land lxom hurst and immediately afterwards the war started, the leading spirit in the All-Red route through Prince Rupert went down in the Titanic, the male part of the population left for Europe to do their part in the great conflict and the city declined into a little fishing village, bolstered up later by wartime shipbuilding. Since that time there has been a more or less steady development until the depression once more set us back. But again we are seeing visions and dreaming dreams of greatness in the near future. Last year's improvement in the fishing business was a great help. A new cold storage plant and ice factory was built, tagging on the Queen Charlotte Islands improved and mining at various points showed considerable advances. There has !ccn more grain shipping. Now we are looking for and expecting other industries. We are receiving encouraging reports which indicate the probability that Prince Rupert will come to life in a big way in the near future. We arc all looking for it and hoping for it and some arc working for It. Little setbacks are bound to occur in the movement toward better conditions. The quiet two months with which the present year opened arc an example of what may be expected from time to time. In spite of these difficult intervals there is every indication that we shall make progress this year, even if there is no outstanding happening. INFLUENCE OF OLD TIMERS We still have with us many of the old timers who were here at the founding 6f the city. We are happy to say many of them are as full of hope as they were at that time. A few have been soured by time and the weariness which comes of hope deferred. They were a fine lot of men and women, these pioneers of Prince Rupert, far above the average of pioneers of any city. They arc today men of character, mellowed somewhat by the experiences through which they have passed, lnit ready when the day comes to take their places once more in the vanguard of tin? city and do their bit in bringing about the good times that all expect.
