With a subsidy for eight ships each year for .three years, the city is established as a Canadian seaport. A precedent has been established and, even if no logs are shipped just now, it seems likely that both outgoing and ingoing Oriental freight may be shipped this way. A promise was secured from the minister of trade and commerce that, if there was a demand for it, subsidies would be granted on east-bound ships. Shipments for Montreal from Hong Knng may eventually be sent by way of Prince Rupert instead of through other ports. Mr. Hanson says that transportation men are agreed that the concession is a very important one, more important than Prince Rupert people think. Mr. Hanson, who has been spending the past week in the city in the course of the Easter recess of Parliament, will leave by this evening's train on his return to Ottawa. Mrs. Hanson and daughter. Miss Llnnea Hanson, and son, Olof, are all in Ottawa at present.
