He was a statesman 'whose counsels were listened to with respect and whose opinions were held in esteem in the House of Commons. While his army training sometimes made him a little self-opinionated, he was gentleman enough to respect the opinions and whims of others. If he had been again elected to Parliament he would undoubtedly have been a member of Mr. Mackenzie King's cabinet. Unfortunately he has told his Yarmouth constituents that he can no longer represent them but must attend to his own business instead of that of the country. TEACHING IJ2SS0NS Premier Pattullo says there is an attempt being made to teach British Columbia a lesson. An attempt was also made to teach Premier Hepburn a lesson in Ontario but it has failed. So has the attempt to teach Mayor McGeer alesson but he also hds won out. The difficulty is. that these unpleasant delays are hardest on the men who have so long been looking for work and have failed to find it. THE MARCH ON OTTAWA So fearful of the British Columbia invasion was the Bennett crovernment thnt it vvmt t ibers of the cabinet to meet them at Regina and persuade ineiu iu stay away, iney have agreed to do this but the relief army is still at Regina and is a menace to any policy Of laissezfaire. MODEL YACHT CLUB j We have a letter from a subscriber asking us to support a movement to form a model yacht club. The idea is to form a small club catering to all manner of marine modeling. It does not need a large number, the great urK8 18 that a11 the members shall be actively interested. While some would take up model yachts, others the power boat or the show-case types. Model yachting is rapidly becoming an international sport and should a club be formed they might enter a boat in a serious competition. t A. J. Croxford, of the dry dock staff, who has taken an interest in this snort, received a letter recently from the Vancouver Model Yacht Club in which they urged that if only eight people are interested a start could be made. An informal meeting could be held at one of the homes so that there would be hardly any expense in connection with organizing. Officers would comprise a commodore, vice-commodore and secretary. Several dates for competitions have been set in Vancouver, the B. C. open championship being held August 4 for F. class and September 1 ami 2 for A. and D. classes. Anyone getting in touch with Mr. Groxford will get full information. ELKS WIN TEN TO TWO Antlerrd Herd Break InU Win Column With "Smoky" Joe Scott on Mount! LEAGUE STANDING W. L.
