The greater number drove across in their own cars during the holiday season. In order that Prince Rupert may share in the benefits derived from the presence of so many visitors it is very desirable that easy access to the city be secured. As soon as possible the highway to the city should be completed and in the meantime it is hoped by many that some arrangement may be secured, through the co-operation of the provincial government, for the carrying of motor cars at a low rate between Prince Rupert and the temporary western terminus of the highway,' wherever it may be. Commissioner Alder has done a great deal to make Prince Rupert attractive to tourists by securing a number of fine totem poles, two of which are in the little park adjoining the City HalL Most of the others are ready for erection and will be up, it is presumed, in time for the tourist season. As the bulk of mir fnnrfets the railway and steamships doubtless steps will be taken uy mem ly capitalize mis wonaertui attraction. CHRISTMAS GIFTS In the next few weeks everyone will be keenly in the' chopping of Christmas gifts. Each year the ijiepanisi oi rjince upert nave catered to this business and this year they seem to have outdone themselves in the spiencua selection offered in the various stores. It is no longer necessary to send away for anything at this time of year. Many of the stocks in Prince Rupert are more complete than they are in the larger cities and the prices are just as low or lower. The great thing is to make the selection before the "best of the gifts have been picked over. CHURCH NOTICES ST. ANDREWS CATHEDRAL 'Church of England) Very Rev.
