Limited, Third Avenue . H. r. PULLEN Managlng-Edr-or Saturday, Oct. 12, 1935 LAST WORD ON ELECTIONS Last night there were two public meetings in the city addressed by prominent Vancouver public men and one outstanding woman. At the one meeting the views expressed were almost wholly opposed to those at the other. The result is that the electors have been rather confused by the various issues brought up. New issues have been raised and in some cases minor matters have been stressed and important matters emnhasizpd. TYnio-Vlf tViora will be another meeting at which the speakers, following the usual course of such meetings, will done bv the old narties. challenr-p men -and newspapers and be guilty of the sort of conduct uiey- usuaiiy accuse tne old parties of following. That will confuse the issues even more. We ask the electors to remember that Bennett never did anything until faced with an election, that the C. C. F. have never done anything and never will. They do not even have enough candidates in the field to enable them to form a government if all were elected. The hope for Prince Rupert is to elect a Liberal, who will work with a sympathetic government at Ottawa and will bring back prosperity to the country and particularly to Prince Ru-pert. THE LATEST REACTION The latest reaction tqwaid Liberalism in the election which is to take place Monday would seem to indicate that the Liberals will have a larger majority than had been recently expected. Even the C. C. F. radio speaker at Vancouver Thursday night admitted that the Liberals would have the largest group in the House of Commons and possibly would have a majority over all. uuput muei aia art; very opumistic over the situation, some of them stating they feel sure they will imvpt luuai plurality oi not jess than three hundred-Prime Minister Bennett has; marlp i persuade the electors that hp. rpllv fovnra -of w his record of the past five years indicates to the working man that nnthirirr from the Conservatives. One of the Vancouver C. C, K candidates, speaking on the radio, said they were not interested in ordinary political problems. They were socialists and socialism was their aim and object There has been a big swing away from the C, C, F. in this constituency within the past week, many-electors who elt JJiclmed to support .them having swung back into the Liberal fold.
