MAKING BUILDINGS PAY It is to pe hoped that conditions will change to sich an extent in Prince Rupert that it will not be necessary to carry put the suggestion of the Commissioner that buildings may have to be taxed higher than at present in order to make up for the lowering of the assessments following! the judgment in the Prudhomme case. It is possible that Mr. Justice McDonald may hand down a written iudirment which will state whether he assessments generally too high in Prince Rupert. At any, rate ne remarKeu m court tnat his decision in this case need .not necessarily affect other properties. uviuenuy most people seem to agree with the judge that the Prudhomme lots are not worth more than $750 each and it has been suggested that assessments pn Thircl Avenue are comparatively lower than they are on Eraser Street, eyen since the revision. ; All this will be a matter for the assessor to consider this1 year in order that he may revise his assessment at the beginning of 1937. If the pulp mill should come, the assessments, it is to be presumed, will not be questioned. BADMINTON Canadian National .Recreation As sociation court is as follows: 7 p.m. W. The first session found Brown in good form and, from being 75 points in arrears, he carrie up to within 21 points of Cameron. Then the balls began to run badfy for him and, in addition, he was continually leaving his opponent with easy set-ups. Cameron had been having a lean time for a spell but, as the balls went badly for Brown, they went well for him. Cameron ran up a nice break of 49 failing at a fairly easy losing hazard when he tried for position. A break of 41 ended in the same way. His othsr breaks were 30, 25, 24, 22 and 21.
