May 2 WATERFRONT WHIFFS Halibut Prices Slightly Better Bailey Speaks In Vancouver Cardcna Late Again Halibut landimrs at the port of Prince Rupert for the 11)36 season up to and including yesterday had reached a total of 2,151,600 pounds as compared with 1,122,600 pounds at a corresponding date last year, ihe Canadian andings for the present season now stand at l,z41,dUU pounds in comparison with 593,500 pounds a year ago while the American total is 910,300 pounds as against 528,700 pounds. During the past week landings amounted to 361,500 pounds consisting of 202,500 pounds from 18 Canadian vessels and 159,000 pounds from 10 American bottoms. The price average for the week showed a slight Improvement over the week previous. The high price of the week for Canadian fish was 6.4c and 5c paid the Bob ble for 8.500 pounds and the low 6c and 5c which was paid for a number of catches. For American fish the high price of the week! was 7.3c and 6c which several boats! received and the low 6.5c and 5c ! which was paid In a couple cases.
