Some of the smartest hats which design ers have created for June-to-Aug- ust wear have brims of breath taking proportions. They may cut the air in a clean flat arc, curve up in a Breton roll or dip a little over one eye, but their flatness and simple lines give an effect of great width, casting a cool shadow over face and eyes. Their crowns are generally so shallow they are little more than straw hummocks.
