W. Nlckerson: I "That the Japanese had asked for! an extension on cohoes, and It had j been granted them. What the white fishermen asked had been turned down." , Whether the above statement was made through Ignorance, or wlth the Intention of giving uninformed persons the Impression that the Fishery Department had a favored nation clause in their regulations,! which applies to Japanese fisher-1 men, we do not know. ' . I am sure Mr. Nlckerson should is moved, either up or down, it will apply to all commercial fishermen ',n tnat ara. Further I think if he will take the trouble to Inquire at the local fishery office, he will find j that there are more Japanese fishing spring salmon, than whites. At a mass meeting of salmon fishermen, sponsored by the Nor- white fishermen from Tort Esslng- .1 . . oincr river points present, i one of the resolutions passed una-' nimously opposed the moving down ; of the present boundary on the Skeena. And that was the only re- j quest concerning the moving of tha 1 boundary sent to the Fishery De-1 partment by cither the Northern B. u. Fishermen's Association or the Skeena Fishermen's Association. i We are of the opinion that the fishery committee of the Chamber of Commerce are more concerned in their own self-interest than In helping out the white fishermen by asking for an extension ,of the spring salmon fishing grounds. As to Mr. Pullen being approached by resident fishermen: We are all resident fishermen, and want equal rights for all, and special privileges" for none. J. ROBERTS, Secretary, Northern B. C.
