Numerous complaints are being made but nobody'knows what to do about it. We are not now referring to the toboganning or sleigh-riding on the streets. We realize that this is dangerous but not so dangerous as the habitual negligence and care-; lessness of the .children. Many of these youngsters are very small, well below school -age. They usually, jf in a crowd, divide in such a way as to make it difficult for a car to pick its way through without injuring someone. The children seem to vie with each other to show how dar-ing they can be. Many people have expressed the view that accidents are bound to happen here some day. They have happened in 1 me past out not recently, it seems to be sheer luck that tragedies have been averted. It is true that some drivers of autos go too, fast and are not sufficiently careful, but it is not these that .seem to be the most danger. We know that in many cases the street is the only pjace the children have to play but that does not at all excuse the foolhardy daring which makes it very difficul to drive. We feel it our duty .to issue this warning. It is useless to sound it after some tragedy has occurred. Only a few days ago a driver of a car complained that at Seal Gove children tried to clamber on to his rear fender as he was coming up the hill. We hope that parents and others who have childtwi in their care will warn them of the danger of the way they AIRWAYS ADVANCEMENT It is announced that the amount of mail planes in Canada last year is just about double that for the year 1934. Much of this was taken to the mininn nrpna. This marks a distinct advance in the use of the airplane for carrying mail. Passenger traffic dropped off a little during the year. Policies of self-sufficiency prevailed in alj importing countries, huge tariff barriers and quotas and milling restrictions' were in effect. To those disadvantages was added pxchange .devaluation also in various countries. 'This is the world in which Can adian farmers have had to compete and find a market. Despite such world .conditions there have been men in this country who said nothing should have been done, and by doing nothing low prices would reduce production and thus reduce supply to effective demand. They would have abondoned our farmers to .the relentless operations of the speculative 'open futures market' and the oreign importers." Those who had advocated sell ing at the "world price" had failed to realize no world price existed. The expression "world price' had its .origin in jthe opening future? system."
