Wives of the members of the wardroom mess were also pre sent. The gathering was presided over by Lieut. Comander Walter Hume, R.C.N.V.R. and the feature of the proceedings was the presen tation to Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Orme of a handstome set of soapstone book-ends as a farewell gift prior to their departure from here to take up residence in Victoria. Later in the evening there was a dancing party at Royal Canadian ters by the wardroom mess In honor of the officers of the two visiting destroyers. About 35 couples were present and dancing wag enjoyed from 10 p.m. until 2:30 ajn. with music by the Premier Orchestra. Delicious refreshments were served. Arthur Beaudin, who arrived m the city on Tuesday night's train from Terrace, will sail tomorrow afternoon on the Prince George for a brief visit to Alice Arm where he formerly resided. He will be back here on the Catala next Tuesday and return to Terrace on Wednesday evening's train. Mr. Beaudin was caught at Kitwansa at the time of the recent railway tie-up owing to floods and had to walk sixty-five miles from Kit- wanga to Terrace with consider able difficulty.
