She later wept with joy. In a final message of farewell to her husband during the day, Mrs. Hauptmann had written: "I love you. I will always remember you., I have not lost hope. You must not lose hope." It was revealed last night that yesterday morning, hours before learning of the stay of execution, Hauptmann had written both to Governor Harold Hoffman and Prosecutor David T. Wilentz protesting his innocence. He called on Hoffman to investigate the friend of the late Isadore Fisch about whom so much had been heard. He said that although he (Hauptmann) was innocent he was not afraid to die as he had a clear conscience. He told Wilentz that he was allowing circumstantial evidence to "murder" an innocent man. The unidentified man, now injected into the case toy Haupt- mann's farewell letter to Governor Hoffman, had not been referred to at the trial but a guard quoted him as saying: "I know who did it (the crime). He was a friend of Fisch but I don't remember his name." Hauptmann has always claimed that he obtained the ransom money from Fisch, who is now dead. Detective Ellis-Parker of Burlington County said last night that he had uncovered evidence which would break the whole Lindbergh case open. Sensational new developments, far. more amazing than the. public ever anticipated, might be experted before Friday night. Lindberghs Aloof LONDON, April 1: Col. and Mrs. Charles A.
