Owing to a mis understanding it was stated Saturday that through shipments could not be made by way of Vancouver. This is not correct. There were a number ot Ameiiean halibut boats here this morning and all offerings were purchased at good prices and are being shipped out or placed in cold storage. "While the tie-up on the railway is interfering greatly with traffic, halibut is kept moving steadily and the prices paid compare favorably with tnose paid LAGOON FOR SWIMMING Yesterday there were over one hundred and fifty people using the lagoon south !of Westview for swimming purposes. The tide was high; and the place was surrounded by picnic parties. These were in addition to the groups camped temporarily along thfe beach. They were chiefly people who had no transportation facilities either by boat or road to any other part of the city. The efforts to find a suitable swimming pool shows very clearly that people want to swim and that they like salt water best. At the lagoon two spring boards for diving have been put in place and are used by large numbers of excellent swimmers and divers. For several years When this place became a jungle for the unemployed, people kept away from it as not being sanitary. The elimination of the jungle brings it back into use as a swimming pool, one of the best if not the best of swimming pools in and around the city. It is easily accessible but the water is a little colder than the Salt Lake and there has so far been no supervision and no attempt to erect dressing rooms. CONNELLY AS CANDIDATE The selection of Mark Connelly as a candidate for the Liberal nomination in Omineca ties up the Omineca elec-. turn very closely to Prince Rupert. Mr. Connelly was the pioneer in shipping poplar logs out of Prince Rupert for matchwood purposes. In that way he initiated the log shipment from this port. This fact indicates that he is a rustler, a man who does things and who will undoubtedly make good if he goes to Victoria. He is a permanent resi dent of the district, his interests are tied up with it and he is a man who may be looked to as a possible continuous representative of the constituency. l'W4BHJ'll This advertisement Is riot published or displayed by the Liquor Control Board Or by the Government of British Columbia.
