PLANS LAID ROSESHOW Prize List Finally Adopted And Plans Laid For Big Event In McCutcheon'i Old Store At the meeting of the. Prince Rupert Horticultural Society last night, President Jack Frew in the chair, a prize list was finally adopted and arrangements made for the show which is to be held in the vacant store formerly occupied by McCutcheon's drug store, diagon ally across from the Prince Rupert Final arrangements were also made for the Judging of the gar dens. No entries are required but those wishing their gardens Judged would do well to notify a member, of the committee. The Judge, E. W. White, is expected to arrive on to night's train and presumably he will set to work examining the gardens tomorrow morning. There will be two classes of gar dens, those with a frontage of 25 feet or less and those over 25 feet frontage. A silver medal will fce the first prize In each case, a bronze medal second prize and a certificate for third prize. AH the prizes have been donated by the English garden, magazine "Home Gardening." Schedule of Marks The schedule for marking the gardens Is planned on the. following basis: Design and layout, 30 points. Grouping arid color schemes. 20. Perfection of plants, 25, Freedom from weeds and neat-j ness, 20. Specialties or novelties, 5. Entries should be made Sunday evening after 7 or before 8:30 Mon day morning. A special prize of $5 is being do nated by Mrs. R. W. Wlnslow for the best general display of flowers and Frank Dibb Is donating a se cond prize for the same class of $2.50. Mrs. Wlnslow wishes the displays judged 50 for quality, 25. for ar rangement and 25 for varieties. Six to eight varieties to be used in separate containers or in one large group, quality and taste to be the ruling factors rather than quantity. For the best lawn in the city there is a prize of $4 on a lot 25 feet frontage or under and a slml lar prize for lawns on lots over 25 feet. These prizes are donated by Lieut. Col. J. W. Nlcholls. NATIVES CONCERT Event at Claxton Commenced at 11 p.m. and Closed at 2 a.m. There was a particularly interesting midnight concert and sup per at Claxton cannery last Sat urday night when the other na tives of the coast were enter tained at supper by the Kisplcx people. There were speeches by Chief Henry Gall of Klsplox, Chief Nortqwldzeus of Hazelton and George .Robinson ot Alyansh. The musical program started at 11, the Klsplox United Church choir giving a number ot choral selections. Alyansh choir gave four choral numbers and three banc selections, Kltkatla an anthem and Klsplox four anthems. The supper followed the con cert and it was two o'clock Sunday morning before the proceedings closed. Gilbert Earwlck was dismissed by Magistrate McClmont in city police court yesterday on a charge of drunkenness. Albert Sulear, similarly charged, was remanded for eight days. 8. Timely Recipes PINEAPPLE GRIDDLE CAKES Three cups flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, 3 eggs, 1 cup undiluted evaporated milk, 1 cup pineapple Juice, 2 tablespoons melted shortening. Sift dry Ingredients together Beat eggs slightly with milk. Stir liquid into dry mixture, addlrs pineapple Juice last. Add melted shortening and drop at once tfj spoonful on a hot' griddle.
