Pattullo, has gone to Ottawa to stay until he gets things cleared up. rid is rv'ilovtetl to have told a Vancouver newspaper that the present negotiations with Ottawa1 are of a more important character than anything that has occurred during the past twenty years. The issues between the province and the Dominion are so great that it will likely take some time to settle them That Mr. Pattullo is the right man to undertake the negotiations just now is indicated , by his statement made before leaving for the federal capital. These are said to have been his words: "As British Columbians it is our duty to see that the interests of our province are protected and, as good citizens of Canada, it is also our duty to endeavor to cooperate for the general welfare, of Canada. "While this may require some restraint and patience I wish to assure the public that we shall do all in our power to further the interests of our people." It is very clear that the views of British Columbia's premier and those of the average cabinet member at Ottawa are not in accord. People of the west have different ideas from those of the east and these are not easy to reconcile. We do not want to fight the east but we may have to. We may even have to take drastic means of making the east understand that the rights of the west must be respected.. This, of course, is a family difference but it is serious all the same. We hope that the provincial premier will be able to show Mr. King and Mr. Dunning that British Columbia views must have proper consideration. I LOOKED ON AS PAUPERS The east looksUpon the west as pauper members of the family who are making constant raids on the family exchequer. As a matter of fact, it is the west that makes the east prosperous. The east fattens on the west. The Van- couver Sun editorially draws attention to this and suggests that, if British Columbia were not a province of Canada, it might buy many goods much cheaper in Japan where it sells its products. Both Japan and British Columbia would benefit, As it is the east benefits from the partnership and howls when the usually subservient west asks for a better deal. Horse and girl were uninjured; BLENDING The process that determines flavour A LL cigarettes are a blend of tobaccos. There is no such thing to-day as a x- cigarette containing only one type or kind of tobacco. If there were, you wouldn't like it. Individual smoking tastes differ. Just as some people like certain foods, while others dislike them, so some cigarette smokers display a marked pre ference for a certain brand of cigarettes', while their friends think otherwise. That is why the Imperial Tobacco Company manufactures many different brands. We strive always to satisfy every cigarette preference. For some Imperial cigarette brands, as many as forty different types, classifications-and crops of tobacco arc required in varying proportions, in order to create a cigarette with a distinctive flavour. This tobacco comes from Virginia, from Carolina, front Kentucky and from Norfolk, Oxford and Elgin counties in Ontario, and other world-famous tobacco growing countries. essential reauiremcnt is that evrrv rirrnrcttc sold under a familiar trade name, must, at all times, be exactly the same as every other cigarette bearing the same name. To achieve this scrupulous accuracy, the Imperial Tobacco Company, through many years of scientific experimentation, has developed a formula for each brand so exact that experts' tests can discover no difference be twecn two cigarettes in ten million of the same brand, whether purchased in Halifax or in Vancouver. But, although the flavour is different, the same fine quality is maintained in all cigarettes produced by Imperial Tobacco Company. We manufacture different types to suit different tastes and the quality never varies.
