Jan. .29: The Deoole of Old Massett were recently hon ored by a visit from Rev. R. C. Scott, principal of the Coqualeetza Indian Residential School, Sardts. Mr. Scott was the guest of Corporal and Mrs. E. G. Newnham .at the Government House, Old Massett, and the purpose of his visit was primarily to gain personal contact with the parents of Coqualeetza pupils from Massett and to renew acquaintance with ex-pupils. One very satisfactory outcome was the formation of a Coqualeetza ex-pupils' association. Mr. Scott had a busy time visiting parents at their homes and attending to various matters brought to his attention He also visited the day school and church and was invited to attend the weekly Sunday School teachers' meeting at which he gave some helpful advice. A public reception was accorded Mr. Scott at the town hall at which the St. John's Church Choir gave1 some fine renditions and the Women's Auxiliary served delicious re freshments. Robert Collison was a very able chairman and the sp?ak-ers were Chief Councillor William Matthews, Rev. R. C. Scott, Godfrey Kelly of Port Simpson, Oliver Adams, E. G. Newnham and Ivan Adams. Visitors from New Massett included Rev. A. Abraham, Mrs. K. Gillett and Mrs. II. R. Frost R.N, The absence of Rev. J. Gillett on business was regretted. Games and dancing followed, David Jones being the pianist. Mr. Scott left Massett for Skide-, gate by the steamer Prince John, being accompanied by Rev. J. Gil lett who had returned from Prince Rupert on the same steamer. Edward Mabbs, arrived In port on time at 10 o'clock this morning from Vancouver, Powell River and Ocean Falls and will sail at 4 o'clock this afternoon for Anyox and Stewart whence she will return here tomorrow evening southbound. Bringing passengers, freight and mails, C. N. R. steamer Prince 'John, Capt. Neil McLean, arrived In port shortly after midnight last night from Vancouver via the Queen Charlotte Islands and will be here until 10 o'clock Friday night when she will sail on her return south over the same route. Passengers coming north on the Prince John included 24 loggers for the J. R. Morgan Logging Co.'s camp at Sedgewlck Bay which is reopening. Capt. Edward Mabbs has taken over command of the steamer Prince George on its present voyage north, relieving the regular master, Capt. H. E. Nedden, who is taking a week off at Vancouver. George (Brick) Currle of thl.t city has been appointed skipper ot the J. R. Morgan Logging Co s service boat Mary Roberta. He arrived on the Prince John this morning from Sedgewlck Bay for a brief visit to town and will bj returning to the Islands on the same vessel Friday night.
