That is why thousands of cookie makers choose and use butter in their baking. Shortbread One cup butter, y2 cup fruit sugar, 2'2 cups flour, pinch of salt. . Cream butter thoroughly and add sugar ahd salt, gradually. Add flour and work mixture with hands un til dough can be shaped. CTurn out on lightly floured board and knead until mixture cracks. Roll to about '4-lnch thickness. Cut into fancy shapes. Bake in a slow oven (300 to 325 degrees F.) until very slightly browned (about 30 minutes).
