WHIFFLETS From the Waterfront The whole of yesterday's catch of herring taken by Captain R. Gam mon of the Zenardl, seining in a pool with Capt. Martin Skog of the No. 9, was donated by the pool to the citizens. The Chief Skugaid, Capt. R. G. Lawson. proceeded to different berthing spaces on the waterfront and distributed the catch to all and sundry who cared to partake of the offering. The crew "of the Skugaid heartily collaborated in the distribution, helping the recipients, mostly children, by donating bags, paper and otherwise to enable them to take the fish home. Marine Official Coming To City Director of Marine Services for Federal Government to Spend Couple of Days in City Robert K. Smith of Ottawa, director of marine services of the Department of Transport, will be In Prince Rupert on Wednesday and Thursday of this week in the course of a trip to this coast on official business. He will arrive tomorrow morning on the Prince George from Vancouver and will sail by the same vessel Thursday night on his return south. Mr. Smith Is a former Member of Parliament for Cumberland, New Brunswick, and was also once deputy minister of marine. He is a personal friend of F. A, MacCallum of this city. While here Mr.. Smith will meet the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce at a dinner meeting tomorrow evening and he Is also being Invited to address the Prince Rupert Rotary Club at luncheon Thursday.
