man has the centre of the stage most
of the time in this piece as the comi«
coon “Tom Walker ’”’ a part to which
he does more than justice. Harry
B. Cleveland makes a great “Devil,”
and Miss Drena Mack in all her three
parts did splendidly, singing her fa-
vorite songs, and several new ones
being encored repeatedly. Most ef-
fecting was the fencing scene in the
darkest Hades where the sword
blades flash fire. This effect,
other electrical triumphs, pro-
duced under direction of Mr. A. T
Parkin of the Parkin-Ward Company,
electricians of this city. The chorus
and the rest of the company excell-
ently supported those taking leading
parts.

No Flowers Till Next Boat

Mr. Morte H. Craig, of the Arctic
Studio, did not receive his usual con-
signment of flowers to-day on the
Prince Rupert from the Fairview Nur-|
series. The flowers were nipped by
the recent storm in Victoria, and for
that reason were not forwarded. No
flower with the slightest defect is al-
lowed to leave the nursery. There will
be a fresh consignment of perfect
flowers on the next boat.
