F. members in the Canadian House of Commons have decided to oppose the government policy 6i defence. This means that they believe in peace at anv price. If ah enemy attacks Canada they would allow them to loot our coast towns, enforce settlement by ,the,ir ,nar tionals, take .dyer -the .administration of .aff airs and make Canada a colony of some alien race; That policy may.be all right for the C. C. Ft but British people in this country will not agree w.itti .then;, and will support Premier .Mackenzie King, jyir. Bennett or ;any other leader w,ho will place the country in a position where it can deiend itself against attacks. It is a curious fact that the same people yho believe Russia is right in defending herself againgt possible attack, are the people who belieye Canada should take nd steps to defend herself. The Canadian people will easily see through these tactics. -The Communists in .this country are openly in favor of Using violence against the constituted authority in order to obtain the administration and force on Canada a dictatorship of a few people who are opposed to .our pre- sent liberty. The C. C. r . do not propose to use violence inv less it becomes necessary. These sort of people are natur ally opposed to defences or the establishment of armed forces in the country so that they may the more easily, if thought necessary, force out of power any party or group opposed to their theories. It is to their interests to keep the countiy undefended. We are glad the C. C. F. has shown its hand in this mat ter so that the people of Canada may realize the position and be prepared. For ourselves we are strongly in favor of a policv of defence and we hope the government will continue its present policy and so improve the defences of the country that no enemy would consider the possU bility of attacking us. The price of peace is a strong defence.
