Pilot Roakes and three passengers William Strong, T. Clarke and Philip Edwards escaped uninjured although the plane suffered considerable damage. As the plane was landing from Port Nelson, the left ski buckled and the undercarriage was damaged. An attempt was being made to turn to avoid hitting the bank of Dease River.
