William Palmer, arrived In port at 9 o'clock this morning from the south and sailed a couple of hours later for Alaska. The vessel had a light list of passengers northbound but, coming south on Friday afternoon, is expected to be filled to capacity. The Norah had forty people aboard on arriving here, ten disembarking at this port while three boarded her here for the, north. The vessel had on board 180 tons of freight for Skagway, The prosecution of the local hali but boat Vera Beatrice on a charge of fishing for halibut in Area No. 2 with an Area No. 3 permit has been further' adjumed In provincial police court. The case was to have come up today. No boats being in with catches, there was no sale of halibut on the local Fish Exchange this morning. While there may be a few American boats still to be accounted for fol lowing the closing of fishing by the International Fisheries Commission, it is considered hardly likely that any of these will land catches here. A banquet and dance were given by the Town Council and the School Board in the Community Hall. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Lindsay of Beattle. Saskatchewan, have purchased the Keller farm at Francois Lake and took up residence there last week. With three daughters they drove here via Idaho, a distance; of 2,000 miles. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay were here in August looking over the place. They had two carloads of effects which included a fine herd of Holstein cows and some fine horses. Their two sons accompanied the cars here.
