A SOLEMN WARNING TO TH heart for the Journal. Any little differences of editorial opinion we all have are looked on with calm, nay, generous, emotions. But there comes a time when it is necessary to sacrifice friendship on the altar of duty. The Journal is free to plead for higher pay for the City Solicitor, or to chide us for not growing enthusiastic over the virtues of the aldermen. We will stand for it without a murmur. But when the Journal announces its recent Sunday edition as ‘‘December 26, 19141,” it is clearly time to call a halt. This is one of the boldest pieces of misrepresentation that has ever appeared in the Journal. It is of no use for the editor of the Journal to plead that he had a “morning after’ feeling and guessed it was the 26th. Such an explanation ill becomes a good Methodist. Coming so closely after his being honored by a position on the Consery- ative executive, the public will not be so easily satisfied that the incident is not part of some political plot to deceive the electors, But the electors will not be deceived. The plot, though daring in conception, and carried out with a bold effrontery worthy of a better cause, will be doomed to defeat. The chil- dren who now sit round with copies of the Journal of ‘Dee. 26th, 1911,” in one hand and tear-laden handkerchiefs in the other—mourning the fact that Christmas has passed and Santa The plot has failed. Kick. Keep kicking. And don’t quit kicking. One pull one way and one t’other. Send to other towns and buy your goods. Denounce your merchants because they make a profit on their goods. Knife every man who disagrees with you on your method of doing business. Refuse to unite in any scheme for the betterment of the material interests of the people. Tell your merchant that you can buy your goods a great deal cheaper in another town and charge him with extortion. Keep every cent you get, and don’t do anything of a public nature unless you can make something out of it directly. When you say anything of your town say it in such a way. that it will leave the impression that you have no faith in it. Patronize outside newspapers to the exclusion of your own, and denounce your own for not being as large as the bigger city papers.—Plumas Standard. . —_ ee ts It Is The Trained Man or Woman Who Rises to the Top of the Ladder!
