MAY INVITE CONVENTION Local Gyros Consider Proposal, To Bring District Gathering Here Jap Cadets For Flag Day The Prince Rupert Gyro Club Is considering a proposal to extend an invitation for the 1939 district convention to be held In the city. The matter was brought up by Dr. R. G. .Large at the regular monthly business luncheon of the club yes- terdav and will be further dealt with a month hence. The Invitation would have to be formally ex tended at the 1937 district conven tion to be held at Kelowna in August. At this year's district con ventlon W. H. Tobey of Prince Ru pert is to be nominated for the nost of lieutenant - governor. Should the convention be held in Prince Rupert it might bring a convention party of up to 200 per sons to the city from all over the Pacific Northwest including Wash- lneton State. It would be an un dertaking of some magnitude for the local club to sponsor. The club yesterday received re ports of further progress in con nection with the Flag Day celebra- Uon to be staged on July 2. An attraction of more than..u?ual Inter est in connection with the Flag Day may be a parade, demonstration of ilu iltsu and other activities by cadets of the Japanese training ship 'Kalwo Maru which will be in port at that time. The club will entertain -officers 'of',,vthe Kaiwo Maru at Its luncheon on the last Wednesday in June. A letter from George Cripps, se cretary of the Coronation Day celebration committee, read at yesterday's luncheon, expressed appreciation of the co-operation of the Gyro Club in connection with the celebration.
