The people of Smithers received a shock Monday when the news came of the tragic death of Inspector William Service in the shooting affair that took place in Prince Rupert. Mr. Service was so well known throughout the Bulkley Valley, having been stationed here for a num ber of years, that he was considered almost as a Smithers man and evenone seemed to took unon him asanersonar frionrf He wt Smith- ers when he was transferred to the Prince Rupert post a few years ago.
